Yinzer Dad

So we are getting ready to go out and play in the snow. I don't remember what I said to Brayden, but he looks at me and what I am going to wear outside and says "You sound like 1 Pittsburgh Dad." 10 minutes later, I am still laughing.

Brayden being nice

The other night the boys and I were at my parents. Brayden was pestering Riley and started to make him cry. I told Bray to watch what he was doing, because Riley is going to get bigger and mess with Brayden someday. Brayden walked away and I heard him say to himself, "maybe Brady be nice to Riley." That lesson didn't help, he still knocks his brother over.

Riley Fights Back

For his whole 13 months, Riley has always been picked on by his older Brother. Just recently though, Riley has started to stick up for himself. The other day, Riley was playing with a toy and Brayden came over and took it from him. Before I could say anything, Riley reached out grabbed Brayden's arm and tried to bite him. It may be bad parenting, but I let Riley go. I figure he still has some catching up left in him.

Bite, Bite, Bite

One night while eating a rather large cookie at my parent's, Brayden pounded one and asked for another. My Dad said, "Brayden, your cookie is gone, did you eat the whole thing?" Brayden sat for a second and looked at him and responded, "no Buppy, bite, bite, bite." Gotta love the honesty from a 2 year old.

Brady Toot

The other night we were at my parents and the boys were playing. Brayden was trying to get past Riley and Riley was not letting him pass. Brayden was getting frustrated and tried to push through. All of a sudden he stopped right beside Riley, turned and looked at us and said "Brady toot on Riley." He is my son.

Someday

Brayden and I were swimming at Grammie Choo-Choo's today and Bray was jumping off the diving board. He was not wearing his swimmies and would go under the water and swim back up by himself. I would then grab him and help him to the side of the pool, where he would pull himself to the shallow end. I told Brayden I thought he could swim by himself to the side of the pool. So his next jump I put my hand under his belly and told him he could swim on his own. His response "lomeday Daddy, lomeday." Still working on the "S" sound and swimming.

Boys Being Boys

So both boys have infatuations with their weiners. As soon as their pants go down, their hands find their way down too. Tonight Brayden just hoped out of the bathtub and was naked waiting for some lotion on his legs. Riley crawls over and apparently thought it was ok to go after Brayden's junk. Going to have to work on keeping on our hands to ourselves.

See You Later

Today after Brayden went to the bathroom, I asked him if he wanted to flush the toilet.  So he walks around the toilet to flush it and as the water is going down he says "bye-bye Brady pee, lee you another time."  Not sure where he is planning on encountering that stuff again.

Dr. Bray

Brayden is getting a molar in and it is really bothering him.  So tonight before bed, I got out some medicine for him.  I was looking at the label to see how much of a dosage he got.  Before I could find it, Brayden says "1 teaspoon Daddy."  He was right, glad I have the 2 year old to tell me how much medicine to use.

I had no response

A couple of weeks ago I put new PJ's on Brayden and they did not have sleeves, which completely befuddled him.  He could not understand where the sleeves were.  So this time around I put on the sleeveless PJ's and he looked at me and said "no leeves Daddy, Brady fly away."

The difference between little and big

Brayden thinks he is a big boy now and should always be referred to as such.  For example, I will say "Brayden are you my little buddy?"  He responds with "no Daddy, Brady big buddy."  So like the bad parent I am, I have started to mess with him.  "Brayden are you a little knucklehead?"  Again the response "no Daddy, big knucklehead."  These can go over for extended periods of time until he gets really frustrated.  Funny little things he does that make me laugh.

Tryout to Play

So yesterday Brayden went over to the neighbor's to play with a bunch of older kids.  As Brayden was being introduced to his new group of hooligans, one kid came over and said "he is too young, can he even run?"  With that the neighbor's older son said "yeah, Brayden show them you can run."  So Brayden took off across the neighbor's backyard and continued through our back yard.  Finally the boys all yelled Brayden come back.  He proved he could run and was allowed in their game of tag.  I don't ever remember having to prove my ability to run when I was a kid, I guess times have changed.

Watch what you say 2

Today we were all driving past a soccer field and I commented with my opinions of soccer, with "stupid soccer" to finish my sentence.  From the backseat I hear Brayden say "lupid loccer."  Based on my previous post, I need to really watch what I say.  But that statement is true.

Watch what you say

The other day I was putting Brayden in my car and it was a mess.  I said to Brayden "look at all this crap."  Brayden gave me a look like I had done something wrong.  I apologized and told Brayden crap was not a good word to use. He responded with "no crap Daddy" with a very serious look on his face.  He understands and repeats everything now, so beware.

Stinky

Brayden just recently started to react differently to people passing gas around him.  We were in the bathroom tonight brushing his teeth, when I passed gas.  Brayden's new response is "Daddy tooted, pee-yoo stinky."

Poop Police

Riley, like his older brother feels the need to grunt when he is pooping.  It is actually quite helpful for us, we know when he is pooping and then when he is finished. Brayden has also realized this and feels the need to let us know every time Riley poops. Riley starts grunting and Brayden yells out "Riley poop."  If we don't acknowledge Brayden he will continue to tells us, but even louder.

Bed Time

Tonight we get the boys in bed and I hop into the shower.  After I get out, I dry off and get some clothes on.  Brayden lets out a yell for his Mommy, so I go in to see what he needs.  I say, "what is wrong buddy?"  He responds with "boogie."  So I take the boogar off his finger so it can be thrown away.  Apparently when he goes to bed he picks his nose.

March Madness

This week Brayden helped Steph fill out a bracket.  Steph read him the names of the teams playing and Brayden picked the winner.  Unfortunately, Brayden didn't fair so well.  But he liked San Diego St., because great gram Jones' has a "potty seat," with the cartoon character Diego on it.  He also liked Duke, because my mother put a sign on her back door to scare off people that read "don't wake Duke."  Brayden took Ohio all the way to the finals and said it was because "baby Lucy live Ohio."  He still has a chance with that one, we will see how it pans out.

Prayer Police

Tonight we were eating dinner at my parents.  Just before we started to eat my Dad said, "let's pray."  Mom, Dad, Cindy M., Bray and I bowed our heads.  About halfway through the prayer Brayden yells "Daddy, Lindy no pray."  Apparently Cindy did not fold her hands, so Brayden assumed she was not praying.  Always fold your hands when you pray, or else you will be called out.

No Throw Up

Tonight at dinner, just after Riley had thrown up, Steph coughed and I joked and said "are you throwing up?"  Brayden, in his seat, leaned away from Steph and said "no throw up Mommy."

Feel Better

So the stomach bug has struck the boys.  Brayden had the squirts and Riley is throwing up...not real fun.  So Brayden is starting to feel better, but we are easing him back into food.  So every time we talk about what we are going to eat, we always mention what we will let Brayden eat.  Without fail he always pleads his case, "Brady feel better, Riley lick."  Trying to convince us that he is fine and Riley is the sick one now.

Chipmunk Cheeks

A week or so ago, we were all eat dinner at the table.  Brayden started to throw food, he was warned not to do it again or he would be sent to his room.  He did it again and Steph stands up and says to Brayden, "we told you not to do that, I am going to clean your face and send you to your room."  Apparently Brayden was not done eating and for fear of not getting anymore food, he began double fisting handfuls of food into his mouth.  At least he understands what happens when he is punished...no more food in front of him.

Smooth

I did not work today and Brayden had a class at the library, so I took him.  It was story time for the class and all the kids gathered around the teacher and she read to them.  I noticed Brayden kept looking at the girl sitting next to him.  I was kind of nervous, in the past Brayden has had a problem with hitting at random times.  He kept eye-balling this girl and I kept getting more and more nervous.  I was about to tell Brayden to come back with me when he scooted closer to the girl and leaned in and gave her a kiss on the cheek.  I was shocked and didn't know what to do, so I asked Brayden if he knew that girl and he said "no".  I then asked him if he knew her and name and he again said "no".  Bray might have taken his first step towards being a player.

Crybaby

Monday, the boys and I were at my parents eating dinner.  My mom was holding Riley and he was in a good mood.  Brayden was not eating his broccoli, so I was working to get him to eat his veggies.  Brayden was not happy and started to cry.  I looked over at Riley, who was looking at Brayden, and he was smiling.  The more Brayden cried, the more Riley would smile.  Maybe Riley will teach Brayden how to eat broccoli.

More Toot

Tonight we were sitting in the basement as we enjoyed a fire.  Brayden was walking along the couch and playing with things on the the window sill.  He passed gas, pretty loud and said "oh, toot."  Only seconds later he passed gas again, just as loud and said "more toot."  All while having a quirky little smile on his face as he continued playing like nothing had happened.

Spelunker In Training

The other day I was sitting on the couch emailing someone in regards to our house situation.  Brayden was playing with a ball, he was all over the living room/dining room/kitchen area.  I was not really paying attention to him, but I knew he was there due to his babbling.  After a couple of minutes I hear him start to yell for his Mommy.  I could not see him so I just assumed he was behind the love-seat or down the hall.  Steph came out and asked me about Brayden, at this point I looked up from the computer and saw Brayden crawling out from underneath the love-seat.  Apparently his ball was under the love-seat and he had to get it.  Our love-seat sits approximately 4-6 inches off the floor, I have no idea how he managed to crawl under it.

That's My Boy

Saturday after lunch Brayden was napping and Riley was on my lap.  Riley was pretty content for a while and then he started to grunt.  I thought to myself, this grunting reminds me of when Brayden was younger and he would grunt like this as he was pooping.  Riley grunted another time or two and then he exploded with a rather large poop.  I looked at him and he just gave me a real big smile.  He is on his way.

Happy Newnie!

We wake up this morning and I go in to Brayden's room and wish him a Happy New Year.  I ask him if he can say Happy New Year and he responds with "Happy Newnie!"  Close enough.
