Questioning Wyatt

This morning while getting ready for church, here is the conversation I just witnessed:

Brayden: "Wyatt, do you like babies?"
Wyatt: "No."
Brayden: "Wyatt, do you like big boys?"
Wyatt: "No."
Brayden: "Wyatt, do you like Yoda?"

Wyatt was about as speechless as I am. Not sure where this stuff comes from.

5 Year Old Bible Words

Over the weekend I made the boys sandwiches for lunch. I sat down to eat and looked over at Riley and he was smashing down his sandwich. So of course Brayden had to join in. After getting their sandwiches to about 1/2" thick, Brayden says "look Daddy unleaventh bread." I guess this means they are paying attention at church.

Weenie Fight

The other night I was getting Riley out of his carseat. I thought I unbuckled his 5 point harness completely, but I didn't. I tried to pull him out of his seat and he started to squirm back and forth. I said "sorry buddy, I thought I had you unbuckled." His response about put me on the ground laughing: "I was still buckled Daddy and my weenie was fighting the buckle." These boys make me laugh.

To Share or not to Share

Last week Brayden and Riley were fighting over a golf club. Long story short, the club hit Riley and we had to go to Medexpress. While there, they gave him 3 stickers for being a brave boy, while he had his cut glued shut. On the way home he asked me about the stickers and what he could do with them. I said you have 3 stickers maybe you could keep one and share with your brothers. Here was his response: "maybe I will share one with Wyatt, but not Brayden, he did this to me." As he pointed to his forehead. I was going to try and explain that it was only a sticker and what did he think the right thing to do was. But I was laughing too much, so I let it go.

3 Year Old Religious Humor

Last night while cooking dinner, there was a fly that was really annoying me. Finally I grabbed a towel and smacked it against the window. As I went to grab it, it took off and flew away. I said "oh man, that fly came back to life." Riley responded with "I wonder if that fly knew Jesus?" Oh the things these boys say.

Liitle Boy Language

The last week or two, the two older boys have had a cough. So like all parents we brought out the Vicks and propped their pillows up, did whatever we could to help them out. But we forgot one thing and Brayden let us know about it. Last week he says "I think if we get out my humidity fire, my cough will go away." So ever since then we have had the humidity fires...humidifiers going.

It is a Mystery

Tonight I got home from work and noticed something on our kitchen floor. It was sitting right in front of our fridge. As I picked it up, I noticed it wasn't a toy. As I brought it up closer to get a better look, I thought I had found a piece of chocolate. But then I smelled it and realized it was a little, tiny turd. We have no clue where it came from or how long it had been there, but I know what I smelled. With three boys, most things do not surprise me...but this definitely did.

5 Year Old Prayer

I was getting Brayden in bed tonight and he was praying. Going through normal prayer topics--thanks, health, etc... Then he really caught me off-guard "and be with the people who have volcanoes spitting lava at them." Maybe there is an active volcano in the news or maybe they talked about volcanoes at school. But I did not expect that in a prayer tonight or any night for that mater.

Do They Get it From Me?

Tonight while eating dinner, we were talking about Brayden's upcoming baseball season. The conversation went on for a couple of minutes when Riley spoke up and said "Daddy when you pitch to Brayden's team, give them good pitches. But when you pitch to the other team, pitch bad pitches." Proud to say I like his thinking, but I did explain how the "coach-pitch" works.

I am a Slacker...but I am back!

So it has been a while since I last posted. A lot has happened since the last post: lived with the in-laws for 20 months, changed jobs, built a new house, had another baby boy...just to name a few. But I am going to get back after this story telling thing. Here goes.

Riley has the ability to move about the house in a very stealth like manner. Tonight I was in our bathroom, having a little sit-down. When all of sudden I looked up and Riley was right in front of me. Here is there conversation that ensued:

Riley: "Daddy...what are you doing."
Me: "Riley, what does it look like I am doing?"
Riley: Daddy, are you pooping?"
Me: "Yes."
Riley: "I think I am going to go poop."

What amazes me is how little boys can will themselves into a bowel movement. Unbelievable!
